Market Outlook – Broad Market Turn
The broader market, best represented by the Russell 2000 (IWM) has been stabilizing over the past week and is now testing its downward trend line. A strong day that breaks that downward trend line would reverse the pessimism that the market has felt since mid-August.
The Energy, Biotech and Healthcare sectors are the leaders in the market right now.

Commentary – How to Set Up a Stock Trading Computer
I created a video on how I have set up my trading computers, below is a summary but if this interest you, check out the video on YouTube https://youtu.be/qkXU1DtxZCk
The right trading computer setup can make a significant difference in how efficiently you trade. After 37 years of trading stocks, I have refined my technology to help me find opportunities quickly, execute trades efficiently, and monitor the market even when I am away from my desk.
My trading setup consists of two Dell XPS desktop computers running seven monitors. Here is how I have configured them and the software that makes everything work together.
The Computers
Both computers have powerful processors, at least 32GB of RAM, solid-state drives, and liquid cooling to keep them quiet.
I prefer desktops over laptops because they maintain performance better under heavy workloads. My trading software monitors thousands of stocks, so processing power and reliability are important.
I use TradeStation for my technical analysis, which can utilize up to 16 processing cores. For someone building a trading computer specifically for TradeStation, I would recommend a processor with 16 high-performance cores, 32GB of RAM, and solid-state storage.
I use Dell because I have found their computers to be reliable, although a properly configured custom-built computer can work just as well.
The Monitors
My primary computer runs three 43-inch LG 4K monitors and one 27-inch HD monitor. The second runs three 27-inch Acer HD monitors.
The advantage of 4K is the amount of information you can display. A 4K monitor has a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, four times that of a standard HD screen. This means more charts and analysis windows can fit on one display.
However, screen size matters. I find that 43-inch monitors are ideal for displaying 4K resolution while keeping everything readable.
My center monitor displays my main analysis dashboard, while the surrounding screens show charts of stocks I am watching. I keep my brokerage platform on a smaller monitor off to the side because I don't want to be distracted by constantly watching my profit and loss.
Each computer has an Nvidia graphics card capable of supporting multiple high-resolution monitors. You don't need an expensive gaming graphics card for trading, but you do need one that supports your desired number of monitors and resolutions.
Keyboard, Mouse and Stream Deck
I use a Logitech MX Keys keyboard and MX Master mouse. They are quiet, comfortable and accurate.
I also use a 15-button Stream Deck programmed with trading hotkeys. Instead of manually entering every order, I can press a button to execute a predefined buy or sell order. Speed matters when trading fast-moving stocks, and hotkeys can make a big difference.
The Software That Makes It Work
The hardware is important, but the software is where I gain much of my efficiency.
TradeStation: This is my primary technical analysis platform. Its biggest advantage is that I can program my own proprietary indicators and strategies rather than rely on the same tools everyone else uses. My indicators scan for unusual stock activity and alert me when potential opportunities appear.
Mouse Without Borders: This free Microsoft software allows me to control both computers using one keyboard and mouse. I can move the cursor seamlessly across all seven monitors, making two computers feel like one.
Hot Keyboard: This automates repetitive tasks. For example, I have scans running every minute to identify stocks meeting my trading criteria. Hot Keyboard transfers those symbols into my analysis platform, where my indicators evaluate them for possible trades. This saves time and allows me to focus on opportunities rather than routine tasks.
Trading From Anywhere
One of the best features of my setup is that I don't have to sit at my desk all day.
I use TeamViewer to remotely access my trading computers from my laptop or iPad, whether I am at home or travelling.
My desktop computers continue doing the heavy processing, while I can monitor charts, review alerts and control the systems remotely. This gives me the freedom to get away from the screens without losing access to my analysis.
What Really Matters
You don't need seven monitors or two powerful computers to be a successful trader. What matters is having a reliable system that lets you identify opportunities, analyze them quickly and execute trades without unnecessary distractions.
For me, the most valuable parts of my setup are not necessarily the expensive computers or large monitors. They are the proprietary indicators, automation and remote-access tools that allow me to focus on what matters most: finding and taking good trading opportunities.
After 37 years in the market, I have learned that the best trading computer is not necessarily the most powerful one. It is the one that makes you a more efficient and disciplined trader.
